On Saturday afternoon Instonians met Queens in the Senior Cup Final at Kingspan Stadium. Coincidently it marked the 100th anniversary of the first final, played at Ravenhill, in 1924, between Queens University FC and Instonians RFC.
It was grey, overcast and a steady drizzle fell. The gloom was alleviated by the floodlights.
Queens got on the scoreboard first when Ben McFarlane kicked a 5th minute penalty goal to put them 3-0 up.

Queens had a torrid time in the scrum, before Oli Clarke’s 14th minute try, gave Instonians a 5-3 lead.
Bradley McNamara’s solo try on 16 minutes, converted by Ritchie McMaster, gave Instonians breathing space . . .
