I caught up with two of our Featured Clubs, Belfast Harlequins and Queen’s University at the Carrick 7s Women’s Competition at Tom Simms Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon.
With the pitches in a bit of a state I concentrated on the action on Pitch 1.
Game 1: Queens 24 City of Derry 15
Derry’s Stacey Sloan opened the scoring with a try out wide but Queen’s replied through Lucy Belshaw and Rebecca Deans, one converted, to give Queen’s a 12 -5 lead at Half time.
Sloan completed her hat-trick at the start of the second half, which saw Derry back in front 12 – 15, before Queen’s wrapped it up with tries from Rebecca Mann and Ruby Starrett for a 24 – 15 win.
Game 2: Quincredibles 27 Carrick 0
