On Saturday afternoon game one of a triple header, at the Kingspan Stadium, saw Grosvenor take on Queens II in the McCrea Cup Final. With 45 to 50 mph winds Storm Kathleen threatened to dominate the game, blowing diagonally from one corner to the other. Mercifully there was no rain.
With the wind, ball handling was challenging, lineouts became a lottery and the only way to play into the wind was by running the ball out of defence. Both teams took time to settle.

In a rare excursion into the Grosvenor half, Queens opened the scoring, when Kyle Ferguson drove over from close range, beside the posts. The wind took the conversion wide, and Queens led 5-0 after 16 minutes.
