The second game at Stormont Pavilion on Saturday was the, eagerly anticipated, McConnell Shield Final between Queen’s University 2nd XI and Pegasus 2nd XI in one of Belfast’s top sporting encounters.
This was women’s sport of the highest level as two talented and evenly matched squads went head to head. It was a lively first quarter with Pegasus having the advantage. Queen’s defended well, under the guidance of keeper Hanna Quigg and the first half ended scoreless.

The students took the lead at the start of the second quarter with Rachel Black converting a penalty corner with a powerful stroke from the edge of the D. Pegasus pushed hard for the remainder of Q2 but they couldn’t find the final touch in front of . . .
