On Saturday, at Stormont, Banbridge IIs faced arch rivals Lisnagarvey II’s in the Men’s Junior 1 League Cup Final. For once Stormont was dry and sunny, though windy.
Neither side controlled a very cagey 1st quarter.
Garvey took the lead with an Andrew Forest strike, on 16 minutes, only to concede a goal to Ben Walker, a minute later. The 1st quarter ended 1-1.

Gradually Garvey took control and pressed the Banbridge defence. Tom Archibald’s rasping shot on 29 minutes gave Garvey a 2-1 halftime lead.
The game was settled in the 3rd quarter. A brace of Tim Cochrane goals on 41 and 42 minutes . . .
