There was a frost covering a soft pitch, on a sunny Saturday morning for the visit of Larne Grammar School to Lurgan College for a Medallion Trophy fixture.
It was a very canny and unsure start by both sides. Neither could establish territory nor possession not helped the large number of scrums for knocks on. Defences were on top, with only occasional breaks, snuffed out by cover defences.

Eventually the deadlock was broken, when Larne took the lead, courtesy of a Matthew Crawford penalty goal after 18 minutes.
