On Saturday evening, Edinburgh were the visitors to Kingspan Stadium for the United Rugby Championship game with Ulster.
Ulster were fastest out of the blocks, taking the lead, courtesy of a driving maul from which Tom Stewart, broke off to drive over, after 5 minutes. John Cooney‘s conversion put Ulster 7-0 up.
Play was largely between the 22s, before a Ben Healy short range penalty goal reduced Edinburgh’s deficit to 3-7, after 17 minutes.

Edinburgh struck again, when Ben Vellacott found space to reach over for a try. Healy’s conversion had Edinburgh up 10-7.
Following another lineout maul Stewart steered the maul over for him to claim his 2nd try on 23 minutes and a 12-10 lead.
In the closing moments of the 1st half Healy struck with another penalty goal to leave Edinburgh 13-12 up at halftime.
Ulster pressed after the break but couldn’t convert territory and possession into points.
On 59 minutes, with Edinburgh camped on the Ulster line, Pierre Schoeman burrowed under Ulster players for a try. Healy converted to move Edinburgh out to 20-12. Edinburgh increased their lead to 27-12, after 70 minutes, with Robin Hislop‘s try and Healey’s conversion.

When it looked as though Ulster would finish with nothing, Robert Baloucoune did well to finish in the corner to reduce the deficit to 17-27.

In the final move of the game, James Hume got over, out right. Nathan Doak converted to leave the final score 27-24 to Edinburgh, with Ulster claiming 2 bonus points.
