All Ireland League: Pegasus 1 Corinthian 0

It was 2C on a cold clear Saturday evening for the 4.15pm push back for the All Ireland League Fixture between Pegasus and Corinthian from south Dublin. This was a must win game for both teams with Corinthian languishing in bottom and Pegasus, one place above them.

In a goalless 1st quarter both teams were tentative, sounding each other out. Final passes went astray, and few chances were created.

Shirley McCay scores the game’s only goal from a penalty stroke

In the 2nd quarter Pegasus played more confidently creating chances. Eventually Pegasus broke the deadlock, after forcing a penalty stroke from Corinthian. Shirley McCay sent the ball into the roof of the net for a 1-0 lead after 22 minutes. Despite both sides creating chances there was no further scoring, and Pegasus led 1-0 at halftime . . .
