On Wednesday afternoon, in the second of the 1st XI Superleague Semi Finals, played at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club, Rainey Endowed faced The Royal School Armagh.
In a very evenly matched 1st quarter both midfields were determined to move the ball around, creating spaces for their forwards. Armagh pressure began to tell in the latter stages, forcing penalty corners.
From a penalty corner, in the 12 minute Hannah Redmond deflected Joni Cunningham’s shot into the Rainey net. Armagh led 1-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.
As the 2nd quarter progressed, slowly Armagh’s grip on the game tightened. Rainey forwards no longer had the quality of ball previously. Despite chances neither side could score. Armagh led 1 . . .
