Representative Hockey: Ulster U16 entertain Scotland U16 Development Squad

Ulster U16’s entertained the Scottish Hockey U16 development squad for a three match series at Ulster University Sports Centre over the weekend with matches on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

Ulster fielded a very young squad as they start their preparations for the 2023 Interprovincials and it was a good, but tough, series against the more experienced Scottish development side.

We caught up with all three games and you can view a brief report and gallery from each match below.

Match 1: Ulster U16 1 Scotland U16 4

Scotland started on the front foot in the opening quarter emptying the bulk of territory and possession. However, the scrambling Ulster defence managed to keep the game scoreless at the break.

The second quarter also looked to be scoreless but he visitors got their breakthrough with the last play as No 11 Callum Young slotted in a penalty cotne to give Scotland a 0 – 1 lead at half time.
