Set in the leafy suburbs and byways of South Dublin, Corinthian HC, in St Columba’s College, was the setting for the all Ulster EYHL Semi Final Play Off between Queen’s University and Ulster University Elks. Both winning semi-finalists would gain promotion to All Ireland Division One.
From pushback, Elks took control, passes split the Queens defence moving defenders out of position. A though ball found Shannon Atkinson, in space, in the D. She hammered her shot into the roof of the net to give Elks a 1-0 lead after 5 minutes.
Elks continued to press, limiting Queens attacks but there was no further scoring in the 1st quarter.
