At Saturday lunchtime Belfast Harlequins faced Railway Union in a rearranged All Ireland League game at Deramore Park.
I had barely time to settle, when Kate Lloyd gave Railway the lead after 2 minutes of pressure. Railway used the ball slickly, spreading the ball wide, always finding a player in space. They defended high up the pitch, trapping Quins deep in their own half. When Quins tried to play the ball out, passes were cut out. They resorted to speculative through balls to get out.

From one of these Quins earned a penalty corner, which Katherine Welshman converted to equalise, after 10 minutes. The 1st quarter ended 1-1, despite Railway having most of the play.
