Stormont was again the venue for day 3 of the girls’ finals. I talked a lot about the weather conditions for the McDowell Shield final. They only got worse for the Junior Shield Final between Friends and The Royal School Armagh. This Under 14 Age Group final is played over 2 x 20 minute halves. Because of a ski trip, Armagh fielded only 4 of the team, which had represented the school over the season wit younger players standing in.
If it was cold, wet and gloomy for the McDowell Shield, then it was even colder, wetter and gloomier for this final. Despite this some very good hockey was played by both sides.
