On Wednesday afternoon, Banbridge Academy met Royal Belfast Academical Institution, at Havelock Park, in the final of the McCullough Cup.

In a scoreless 1st quarter Banbridge had most of the play, creating, but failing to take chances. Inst were very limited in their attacks troubling the Banbridge keeper rarely.
A minute into the 2nd quarter Banbridge opened the scoring off Captain Matthew McKee’s strike. Banbridge continued to press & dominate the midfield but couldn’t take chances. Inst were left to occasional forays into the Banbridge half. On one of them John Cunningham struck an equaliser, very much against the run of play.
