As I was already at Londonderry Park for the Ards against Pegasus match it would have been rude not to have stayed for the McConnell Cup semi final between Ards 2nd XI and Queen’s University 3rd XI which immediately followed.
Queen’s were up against it in this one with Ards II’s having a great season at the top of a highly competitive Junior 1 League but the students started brightly enough and it took a wicked back stroke from the lightening stick of Ard’s Frankie Brown to separate the teams in the first quarter.

Ards continued to push throughout the second quarter, with Jess Ryan prominent all over the park, and it was another strike from Brown, from an acute angle that increased the home teams lead . . .
