On Saturday afternoon NI Civil Service hosted, near neighbours, CIYMS, in a Women’s Senior 1 fixture at Stormont. It was sunny, but one shouldn’t equate sun with heat!
CIYMS attacked in the opening minutes, pressing Service keeper, Joy Simpson into action. Both sides had chances. In the closing moments of the quarter Hannah Blair struck to give Service a 1-0 lead.
Play was even in a scoreless 2nd quarter, with both keepers, Simpson & Lauren Wolfe, tested. Service led 1-0 at half time.
CIYMS really put the squeeze on Service in the 3rd quarter. They shut down the Service midfield & attack, only allowing occasional forays into the CIYMS half. Despite all this pressure the Service . . .
