I made my second visit to Belfast High this week to catch the Ulster Girls Schools Cup hockey match between Belfast High and Belfast Royal Academy 1st XI’s. Though there was a bit of sunshine this time it was still a bitterly cold morning with a biting wind blowing across the pitch.
Despite the conditions it didn’t take long for the on field activities to warm up as both teams went looking for an early score in a lively enough first quarter. Despite a few chances at either end the quarter ended without the score board being troubled.

BRA made a breakthrough in the second quarter with Beth Callaghan netting the opening goal to give the visitors a 0 – 1 lead about 4 minutes in to the second quarter.
