With Instonians II’s conveniently arranging a 1pm kick off, for their Provincial Premier D2 match against Dungannon II’s, I was able to pop down to Shaw’s Bridge straight after my schools game in Ballymoney.
I’m glad I did as this was one of my favourite games this season, a good old fashioned game of rugby, bit of niggle, plenty of skills, enough mistakes to keep it interesting, handbags and some quality slagging – lush.

Despite the scoreline, Dungannon were never that far off the pace in a fairly even first half. The visitors probably should have taken an early lead but Instonians absorbed the early pressure and broke upfield for Sam Fryers to claim the opening score with an unconverted try.
