1st XI Super League Tier A Final: Methodist College 0 The Royal School Armagh 1

Late on Wednesday afternoon, under lights, Methodist College Belfast played The Royal School Armagh in the 1st XI Super League Tier A Final, part two of a double header at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.

Defenders surrounded & shut down attackers

For 3 quarters and almost all of the 4th, this was a scoreless, high intensity, high speed game, between 2 well drilled sides, at the top of their game. Defences were on top, through passes were anticipated and cut out, attackers were closed down and ushered down ‘cul de sacs’ of defenders. It was ‘chess with hockey sticks!’
