Women’s Championship: Ophir 28 Lisburn 14

On Sunday afternoon, after the hockey trial, I took in the 2nd half of the Ulster Rugby Women’s Championship Game, at the University of Ulste,r between Ophir and, visitors, Lisburn.

Cindy Cancino scored a 1st half try for Ophir

Ophir led 14-7, courtesy of tries by Megan Finney & Cindy Cancino, & conversions by Finney & Molly Dixon. Lisburn had replied with a try by Gemma Castle, converted by Erin Mack.

Ophir pressured Lisburn from kick off & after a series of forward drives, the ball was released to the backs, where Finney found space to touchdown unopposed. Her conversion took Ophir out to 21-7.

The game became a forward slugfest, with play confined to the 22s, but Ophir always seemed to have the edge.
