Ulster Rugby Championship: Ards 23 Randalstown 28 D2

I left the hockey at Londonderry Park to catch the second half of this Championship 2 clash at Hamilton Park. The second half had just started with Ards trailing 8 – 11 with both sets of “support staff” getting worked up in what was a tight contest.

Ards were on the attack on my arrival and after a period of pressure in the Randalstown half they were awarded a penalty with Paul Cox slotting it over to take the score to 11 – 11.

Five minutes later the home team went ahead after wing forward Patrick Bond found the try line after a series of pick and drives from Ards in the Randalstown red zone. Unfortunately wasn’t able to capture that one as the a-fore mentioned . . .
