Ulster Hockey Shield: Belfast Harlequins 1 North Down 0

We caught up with the opening round of the Ulster Hockey (Denman) Shield last Wednesday nights as All Ireland League side Belfast Harlequins entertained, newly promoted, Ulster Premiership side North Down at Deramore Park under floodlights.

Belfast Harlequins welcomed North Down to Deramore Park for a first round Ulster Shield match on Wednesday evening.

The game started after a minutes silence in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the first quarter was dominated by Quins who spent most of the time on the attack, though in fairness both sides were a little rusty after the summer layoff.

North Down had some success down the wings in the second quarter.
