Select 1st XV squads featured for Belfast Harlequins and Malone in the Patrick Baird Cup match at Deramore Park on Saturday afternoon.

I’d been looking forward to this one since I’d heard that Josh Pentland had taken on the Head Coach role at Gibson Park as he developed a great side at Dromore and his school teams have always punched well above their weight.

Unfortunately this one didn’t live up to expectations with far to many (correct) decisions questioned throughout in a stop start game.

Malone’s Lorcan Hanratty crossed for the opening score.

The Malone pack started strongly and kept Quins pinned in their 22 until center Lorcan Hanratty crossed off a crash ball. The conversion was good and Malone led 0 – 7 after seven minutes . . .
