The second Uniphar 5 Nations match on Wednesday featured Ireland U23’s against the Netherlands U23’s. Ireland had played one game, losing to India, and Netherlands were undefeated in their two games, drawing with India and beating USA 4 – 2.
Unfortunately for the home side this was a comprehensive win for the Dutch who set their stall out early with a goal from Isa Kroot after 2 minutes.
There was no further score in the first quarter but Netherlands took a decisive hold of the game with two goals in the second quarter. Belen van der Broek finished off a penalty corner on the 21st minute before a spectacular running volley from the ebullient Elzemiek Zandee to give the Dutch side a 0 – 3 lead at half time.
