I caught up with the Wednesday matches in the Uniphar Five Nations held at the National Hockey Stadium, Dublin.
The tournament started on Sunday 19th and by Wednesday India had played two games and recorded a 4 – 1 win against Ireland and a 1 all draw against, tournament favourites, Netherlands. Ukraine had only played one match and that was a 2 – 0 defeat to the USA.
Despite their records the first half was fairly even with Ukraine having the best of the chances. However, the first half remained scoreless.
India upped the pressure in the second half and they were quickly rewarded with a goal from Nikita Toppo three minutes in to the third quarter.
