My last game of the day was the McConnell Shield final between close neighbours Belfast Harlequins II and Pegasus II. This was the last final of the day and though the low sun was still out, a stiff cold breeze had started to blow, causing spectators to put coats and fleeces on.
As befits close rivals, both teams sounded each other out in a robust scoreless 1st quarter. Both sides created chances but the majority of play was in midfield.
Midway though the 2nd quarter the deadlock was broken by Pegasus, when on 23 minutes Suzanne Ferris scored, following a penalty corner. Pegasus took this 1-0 lead into halftime.
