2022-03-26 Belfast Harlequins 1 Catholic Institute 2 EYHL

We finally got our calendars to mesh with Belfast Harlequins Women’s Hockey for a home All Ireland League game on the final Saturday of the regular season and what a cracking game Quins and, Limerick side, Catholic Institute served up.

The “glamorous girls of Insta” went into the game with an outside chance of topping the league at the end of the final round. They needed a win against Quins and then hope for other results to go their way. Quins, out of the danger zone, but a fair bit off the front runners, were just playing for pride but my oh my what a game!

Insta set about their task from the pass back and and early goal from captain Roisin Upton settled their nerves for a dominant first quarter. Upton scored direct from a penalty corner with a strike on the fourth minute.
