There can rarely been as much drama as in yesterday’s Senior Shield, played at Stormont, between Ballymena Academy and Coleraine Grammar School.
Coleraine seemed overawed by the occasion and allowed Ballymena to take control. A 5th minute Amy Gregg strike, followed by an Ellen McDonald goal on 14 minutes put Ballymena 2-0 in the 1st quarter.
Coleraine settled and Sarah Kirgan’s 18th minute goal pulled one back in what was a very even 2nd quarter. Ballymena led 2-1 at halftime.
