At Sunday’s All Ireland Indoor Trophy at Gormanstown Park, the opening semi final was tightly contested between Ulster Champions, Ards and Leinster Runner’s Up, Muckross, with Ards coming out on top after a 3-3 final score took the game to penalty shuttles. The second semi final between Galway and Railway Union saw a comfortable 10-3 win in favour of the reigning All Ireland Champions.
The above results meant Galway faced Muckross in the 3rd place playoff; the first quarter finished 2-1 to Muckross, with both teams managing to find the net through open play in the opening minute and Muckross scoring from a drag flick just before the quarter time whistle. The experience of Muckross began to show as the game progressed with Sophie Barnwell and Julia Balcerzak contributing to a final score of 7-4 in favour of Muckross.
