Methodist College have a big win at Sullivan in the Schols U16 Cup

Saturday saw the final games in the Round Robin Section of the Schools U16 Cup held. Methodist College travelled to Sullivan Upper on a windy, cool morning for an early 9.45am kick off. To provide quieter conditions, away from crowds, for a school examination, the game was played on the narrower pitch, behind the school.

Methody took the game to Sullivan from the kick off and Harry Malangeni crossed midway out for an opening try after 3 minutes. Jack Tindall added the points, on what would be an almost perfect morning for him, from the tee.

Sullivan, playing against a very strong wind, were barely able to get out of their own half. On 14 minutes Gabe McKonkey scored beside the posts, for Tindall to convert to increase Methody’s lead to 14 – 0.

It was no surprise when Oliver Neill, scored under the posts, converted by Tindall, after 20 minutes to give Methody a 21 – 0 lead.

On half time Lewis Doherty’s converted try, gave Methody a 28 – 0 lead at the break.

Playing into a strong second half wind, Methody retained possession and 4 minutes in Tindall darted in from close range to score a try, which he converted. Methody lead 35 – 0.

Using the wind Sullivan began to find territory and possession in the Methody half, but Methody absorbed the pressure and broke out for Dylan Torrens to increase their lead to 42 – 0, with a well taken try and Tindall’s conversion.
