On Monday afternoon Methodist College played Sullivan Upper School in a schools friendly at Pirrie Park. Methody fielded an enlarged squad and their coaches ensured that as many members as possible got game time. Bob Given Photography was there to capture the action.
Methody enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and territory and took the lead after 11 minutes when Michael Crothers crashed over for an unconverted try.

Despite the statistics Methody did not score again until Lorcan Hanratty squeezed over at the corner for an unconverted try on 31 minutes. It will be a worry to Methody coaches the number of penalties conceded close to the Sullivan goal line.
Methody took a 10-0 lead into halftime.
The half was barely 2 minutes old when Hanratty scored his second unconverted try to increase Methody’s lead to 15-0.

A Josh Stevens brace after 43 and 45 minutes, and a 55 minute Ben McFarland try, all converted by Ryan Lindsay, consolidated Methody’s lead at 36-0.

Sullivan took advantage of a Methody yellow card and raft of substitutions to put pressure on the Methody line and Sam Brown scored an unconverted try after 30 minutes.
Methody won convincingly 36-5 but the ‘navy blue machine’ stuttered and did not fire on all cylinders.
