Our second game at Jordanstown featured the 2nd XI’s of the Elks and Railway Union in an Irish Junior Cup second round match.
As expected in a winner takes all match the teams it was a fairly cagey first half as the teams tested each other out, though the visitors looked to be enjoying the bulk of territory and possession. However, the match remained scoreless as the teams changed ends.

The Elks came more into the game in the second half with Rebecca Kane and Sarah Preston making strong contributions. Kane in particular had a bruising final quarter taking a big spill down the left flank before being hit with the ball from close range in defence.

As the game approached the final minutes it was the Park Avenue outfit that finally found the net through a Hannah De Burgh Whyte strike from the edge of the D.

Elks threw everything into attack in the final minutes but despite an last minute penalty corner the home side were unable to break the Railway defence.
