On Friday evening Civil Service travelled to Shaw’s Bridge to play Belfast rivals, Instonians, in an Ulster Premier League Game.
From the start Instonians set about their task with ruthless efficiency. Attacks rained down on the Civil Service goal. It was no surprise that Service were 3-0 down in 10 minutes, thanks to a Mark Cleghorn brace and a Stephen Kelso strike. Instonians failed to add to their lead and ended the 1st quarter 3-0 up.

A single Paul Hamill goal was the sole reward for Instonians pressure in the 2nd quarter and Instonians deserved their halftime 4-0 lead.
In the third quarter Instonians besieged the beleaguered Service goal and scored 3 goals in 10 minutes, through Kelso, Ben Palmer and Chris Kirk.
A rare attack saw Service pull one back, when Paddy Wallace converted a penalty corner after 42 minutes.

This only spurred Instonians on. Cleghorne scored a brace on 44 and 45 minutes to give Instonians a 9-1 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.
There was no let up in the 4th quarter. Kelso completed his hat trick and further goals by Michael Watt and Tommy Orr gave Instonians a comprehensive 12-1 victory.
