We popped along to our local club Larne RFC on Tuesday night to see how the Give It A Try programme was progressing and to catch up with our friends at Ophir who’s girls were down for a couple of games of touch to dust off the cobwebs of the extended break.
With the Larne men’s coaches and players taking an active part in the coaching of the women’s programme it was good to see they were kept busy with over 40 girls on the pitches, enjoying their rugby.
The popular GIAT taster course was overseen by Matthew Agnew, Robbie Doey and Stephen Dickey who took the younger girls through some tackle practice before some game play.

Pete Reid took the year one secondary school girls through some game practice.

Club coach Alasdair McKee and Kevin Haveron took the older girls for some cross field touch rugby against a visiting team from Ophir.

It was good to see so many players out enjoying themselves throughout the evening.
