The showpiece of Saturday afternoon’s Club Finals featured Lurgan an Donaghadee in the Gordon West Cup Final.
Despite both teams being roared onto the pitch by a vociferous and passionate support this game was a more cagey affair than the opening game.
Donaghadee were first off the mark with an early penalty but defences dominated until Lurgan cut loose 5 minutes before the break with two quick tries, the second of which was converted.
Donaghadee pushed hard in the second half and pulled back a try for a grandstand finish. however it was Lurgan who were next to score with a late converted try claim a 19 – 8 win.
The vocal Lurgan support were joined on the promenade by Ulster and Ireland’s Jacob Stockdale who enjoyed the afternoon watching his home club.
