Belfast’s big two clashed at Osborne Park on Saturday morning with, the hosts, Royal Belfast Academical Institution, coming out on top with a 26 – 5 win against Methodist College.
The damage was caused in the first half as Ethan Field, Simon Jackson, Joe Finnegan and David Lyttle all crossed in a dominant display. Michael Lowry converted three to give RBAI a 26 – 0 lead at the break.
The second half kicked off under torrential rain and with the change in conditions Methody were able to mount something of a comeback. However with conditions worsening they struggled to harvest their points, a solitary try from Cameron Kelly scant reward for their hard work, the game ending with a deserved 26 – 5 win for the Inst!
