City of Derry defeated Ulster League Champions Enniskillen 24 – 10 in an eagerly anticipated Ulster Women’s Senior Shield Final at Judges Road on Sunday afternoon. 

Having tipped Enniskillen to win this one in my preview I clearly underestimated the strength of resolve in the Derry team who stormed out of the blocks with four first half tries from Michelle McLaughlin, Jamie Love, Christine Curry and Kelly Gormley, each one a big “Slap it up ya!” to the FRU’s predictions!  😯 

Enniskillen came back in the second half with two scores of their own but they were denied a league and cup double as Derry held on reasonably comfortably for the 24 – 10 win.
