Cooke got their defence of the Rosie Stewart Memorial Bowl off to a winning start with a nine try win against Co Cavan at Swellan Park this afternoon.

Imogen Porter opened the scoring in the first half with Shannon Davidson, Leanne Jones, Eliza Downey and Beth Cregan all crossing before the break. Cregan and Hanna Kilgore each added a conversion.

Cavan, who kept battling throughout, kicked off the scoring in the second half with Deirdre O’Reilly crossing after a period of sustained pressure.
However, despite strong performances for the home side by Aishling O’Connell and Brigid Reynolds, among others, the visitors upped their game and ran in a further four tries through Ali Millar, Alanagh Chipperfield and Downey who completed her hat trick with a second half brace.
Final Score: Cavan 5 Cooke 51.
In the other Rosie Stewart Cup Pool Matches, City of Derry beat Omagh 63 – 0 at Judges Road and Enniskillen recorded a 21 – 14 home win against Carrick.
Queens University were awarded a walkover against Malone.
