PRO12: Treviso 20 Ulster 24

Ulster held on for a much needed 20 – 24 win against Treviso at Stadio Monigo on Sunday afternoon but, my goodness, it should have been so much more!

It all came too easy for Ulster in the opening exchanges though it’s difficult to say if Ulster were playing well or if Treviso just didn’t turn up as a sixth minute converted try from Jackson set Ulster on their way.

Treviso did look to hit back almost immediately but their scoring pass was cut out by an offside Gilroy who received a yellow card for his troubles, surprisingly no penalty try was awarded and Ulster managed to clear their line.

Ulster made light of their numerical disadvantage, keeping play in the Treviso half and knocked over a penalty to push Ulster into a 0 – 10 lead.

Gilroy returned a minute later and quickly made up for his absence sending Pienaar clear for Ulster’s second try which Jackson converted to push Ulster 17 points clear.
