PRO12: Ulster 12 Glasgow 13

I’d fancied Glasgow for this one before the game but as the match progressed and Ulster proceeded to dominate up front, particularly during the opening 30 minutes of the second half, I found myself preparing to write about a much improved display and a gritty win.

Unfortunately the last 10 minutes turned all that on it’s head as Ulster fell apart and Glasgow snatched the win with a last minute converted try from James Eddie. It took 9 out of 10 Cats do Countdown, QI, Would I Lie To You and two episodes of Family Guy to calm me down after that finish. 🙂

In a scrappy first half, Ulster could count themselves somewhat fortunate that they took a 12 – 6 lead into the break. Fair enough, they had dominated the scrums and lineouts, with the 12 points coming from the boot of Paddy Jackson, but Glasgow had butchered two gilt edge chances to cross the line with Bennett and then Van der Merwe failing to gather the ball with the line beckoning.

However, as the second half progressed the win looked a certainty as Ulster dominated all aspects of play. The forwards had upped their effort, with Roger Wilson . . .
