Our friends at the Belfast Telegraph have been rattling the Ferris cage today, and while it’s not something I would recommend, I must admit that the big man’s future has been playing on my mind of late.
It’s one of the most common questions I get asked when I’m out about. I initially thought that it would be announced the week after we got knocked out of the Heineken Cup, but here we are on the cusp of the final for that wonderful competition and still no word.
My next guess was that it would be the week after our qualification for the PRO12 Final but that’s practically gone and in the intervening period the big man has been keeping a very low profile.
However, to me, no news is good news. I like to think that the big man is exploring every avenue that will enable him to stay with Ulster and with his well documented injury problems it’s going to take a raft of medical checks and fitness tests . . .
