Sevens Rugby: Larne lose out in Carrick 7’s Derby Games

While we were covering the Women’s 10’s at Carrick RFC we also kept an eye on the progress of Larne RFC in the Men’s Open Sevens.

Unfortunately the two matches we caught were defeats in East Antrim Derbies, first up to Carrick and then Ballyclare.

The mighty Larne kick started their 7’s campaign against neighbouring rivals Carrick.

Playing the long game Larne lulled Carrick into a false sense of security before Ricky Bergin hit back with the try of the tournament. Unfortunately the referee blew for full time before Larne could complete their comeback!

Unfortunately I don’t have the details of the Ballyclare match but it looked a sizeable defeat judging from the images. 🙁
