I’m going to have to get a breathalyser type device fitted to the keyboard to stop me typing while drunk! Not only was it a disappointing performance from Ulster but it was a poor performance from myself. Luckily, for me, I can go back and retype mine – if only Ulster could do the same!
I don’t mind being beaten by a better side (as we were in our last outing at Twickers) but I do mind being beaten while playing well within ourselves. Unfortunately that’s what happened, in this strangely muted performance, as Saracens romped home with a comfortable 27 – 16 win.
It was a cagey enough opening with both sides struggling to settle, but it was Saracens who came out on top with Farrell landing an early kick to give the English side a 3 – 0 lead.
However, there was no need to panic as Ulster dominated the next 20 minutes and really looked to have the game in the bag, such was their superiority at scrum time. Pienaar bagged two out of four . . .
