Wham, balm, thank you Mam! Ulster got back to winning ways with an emphatic 47 – 17 win over Scarlets at Fortress Ravenhill on Friday night to open up an 11 point gap at the top of the PRO12.

Ulster’s tries came from Robbie Diack, Nick Williams, Andrew Trimble and Neil McComb with the referee awarding a penalty try. Ruan Pienaar had an exemplary night with the boot adding four penalties and two conversions before Darren Cave chipped in with a quick conversion and Paddy Jackson slotted over the final two.

Few would have guessed that it would be such a comfortable win during the opening exchanges with Scarlets dominating the first twenty minutes of the game. In fact with Ulster trailing 0 – 3, through a Thomas penalty, and D’Arcy . . .

A slow start to the game on fri night from the Ulstermen, but as you rightly say John, once we got a score on the board we never looked back. Great performances all round the park, and you have mentioned a few in Diack having another stormer, Big Nick rampaging through, Big Neill McCombe was outstanding, as was Lewis Stevenson alongside him in the boiler house. Andy T & Craig Gilroy were both outstanding under the high ball, and the line that Andy T ran for his try sublime. Ruan had a great game with young Jacko getting back to his best with the tactical kicking. Caveman was unlucly not to score with his super break. The bench emptied earlier than planned with Ricky Andrew coming on and apart from an error just when he came on he had a solid game. Young Heaney fairly whips those passes out and played well too.

  2. Fortunately that’s all that was needed but we need 80 min performances for the next two games

  3. I know – how many times have we said that Jacinta?

  4. And they weren’t playing well for most of the first half – SUFTU
