Ulster cast the net for Herring?

While we’ve being delving into the details of next season’s squad yet another name has come out of nowhere as a player that Ulster have an interest in.

This time the player in question is 22 year old South African hooker Rob Herring who is currently plying his trade in Cape Town for Western Province. If this rumour is to swim at all it would mean that Ulster are abandoning their search for an NIQ backrow replacement  in favour of the NIQ hooker with tragic consequence that Nick Williams will not be running out in the famous white shirt after all!

However with rumours of Brady retiring earlier in the season and the departure of Kyriacou to Cardiff, Ulster could be left with Rory Best and Niall Annett as the only cover for the number two spot if indeed Annett is in the equation at all?

Herring has been flagged as an up and coming youngster in South Africa, and has worked his way into the Vodacom Cup final match day squad for Western Province against Griquas. He previously spent a two year stint with London Irish.

By all accounts a decent player, the question is where does it . . .
