Brian McLaughlin has been forced into making some changes to his starting XV for the visit of Edinburgh to Ravenhill on Friday night (kick off 7.05pm)…

Centre Nevin Spence has been ruled out of the RaboDirect PRO12 clash with a hand injury, so McLaughlin has been forced to re-shuffle his backline. Ian Whitten is moved from the wing to midfield, where he will partner captain Paddy Wallace. Stefan Terblanche moves to fill the wing berth vacated by Whitten, meaning Adam D’Arcy earns a recall at fullback. Paul Marshall and Ruan Pienaar will form the half back partnership for the second consecutive week, while Craig Gilroy remains on the right wing. There are fewer changes up front. Chris Henry will travel to Paris with the Ireland squad so Pedrie Wannenburg moved to the side of the scrum and Robbie Diack gets a run out at No8. The front five is unchanged from the side that started in the 15-14 win over Ospreys last weekend.

With Simon Danielli also ruled out after picking up a hamstring injury against Ospreys, young backs Luke Marshall and Chris Cochrane are also named among the replacements. Neil McComb and Mike McComish have . . .

15,9 and 10. You can’t have a full back who can’t kick or pass or a scrum half whose pass can and does go everywhere. Passing is his primary function and he can’t do it. Pinear is only acceptable at 10 if you want to play a 10 man game.

What “selections’ would you be talking about? With the international withdrawals and with the ever increasing injury list I don’t see many options left open to McLoughlin. Yes the Marshall/Pinear Pinear/Humphreys question is a no brainer if IH was firing on all cylinders but clearly that isn’t’t the case at the moment or so it would seem. IH is clearly a confidence player so if his confidence is low should we make it even lower by playing him or should we build him back up for the Munster match? I would rather progress in the HC than win a Pro12 match.

Yep what selections are you talking about Raven?

DF – I don’t think dripping someone builds up their confidence? But I suppose it might make him angry enough to tackle.

Teachers selection shows why he can’t get the boot fast enough. 😈
