The Ireland team to play France in the RBS 6 Nations Championship on Saturday, February 11th in Stade de France has been named.

There is one change to the starting XV as Keith Earls returns to the starting XV having missed out on the game against Wales last Sunday. Fergus McFadden moves to the bench in place of David Kearney.

(1-8) Cian Healy,ย Rory Best,ย Mike Ross,ย Donncha O’Callaghan,ย Paul O’Connell,ย Stephen Ferris,ย ย Sean O’Brien,ย Jamie Heaslip. (16-22) ย Sean Cronin,ย Tom Court,ย Donnacha Ryan,ย Peter O’Mahony,ย Eoin Reddan,ย Ronan O’Gara,ย Fergus McFadden.

given the number of games to be played before !7th march Dk may try a few new faces against Itally

Paddy Wallace is not the future of Irish rugby but DK may try McFadden and Earls together not thet the combinations inspires me.

He could also try a Ryan and Touhy second row but I wouldn’t hold by breath as PoC is captain for the term.

But he may rest one of his back row

other than that it will be same mix for most matches this time round barring injury enforced changes.

and given the stage of develoment of most of the young blood the selections are justified

Spence needs another season to develop as a 12 ( and given that Spence was played at 12 instead of Whitten against the Dragons ( it could be that DK sees his future as a 12 ) but he definitely is not quite ready to take over for D’Arcy at this time. Mcfadden is in my view is as slow if not slower than Cave and lacks the Caves awareness in the timeing of his pass.

D Kearney is a strong contender for the Utility back 3 sub and Conway needs another season or two for a wing berth but he is in my opinion the class wing in waiting .

P Jackson is captain of the u20s needs another season or 2

As you say John – will be interesting to see how well that Earls & D’Arcy cope with Fofana & Rougerie as they didn’t get much change from the Ulster pairing who marshalled them well.
Disappointing that wee Deckky not using the young unblooded talent that is available in the provencial teams….. even retaining Tuohy and Henry thus denying them the chance of match fitness even a good 1/2 for Ulster to keep them sharp. Doesn’t make sense at all.

Just came to my senses and realised that Tuohy is playing after all. Still a shame that Chris Henry isn’t getting a run out ๐Ÿ™

Wonder where the turnips are going to play Earls next season now they have signed Downey and Laulala for the centre? ๐Ÿ™„
