The Irish U20’s Junior World Championship Squad enjoyed two very good days in Dublin at the weekend with noticeable game progress made from Cork last week. In particular the team looked to have made a big improvement in continuity and in control.
The U20’s featuring Ulster players Niall Annett (C), Finlay Bealham, Conor Carey, Iain Henderson, James McKinney, Patrick Jackson, Luke Marshall and Craig Gilroy faced a very strong Leinster Development Squad on Sunday afternoon 3:00 pm at Wanderers RFC with two Ruddocks taking the field against their “Dad’s” U20s.
Leinster Coach Joe Schmidt (sun-glasses on balcony) didn’t have much time to celebrate his teams European Cup victory as he was back in action running his eye over wing forwards Rhys Ruddock and Paul Ryan for inclusion in next Saturday’s Magners Final squad. Schmidt then made the short hop over to RDS for the Leinster European Cup celebrations at 4:30pm.
The match ended up 26 – 7 to Ireland U20 with Henderson and Marshall each crossing the line and Jackson and McKinney each adding a conversion apiece.
The final travelling squad should be confirmed later this week
