Queen’s University Ladies came up just short losing 12 – 15 in their AIL promotion play of match against Portlaoise RFC at Ashbourne RFC yesterday afternoon. There were a few legitimate grumbles with Portlaoise allowed to kill the ball at every opportunity but at the end of the day the young Queen’s side where just out-muscled by their experienced opponents

Queen’s staged a second half comeback to snatch a 21 – 20 win against local rivals Malone in this Ulster Bank League 2 encounter at the Dub on Saturday afternoon. The match featured an interesting midfield encounter between Ulster players Mark McCrea for Malone and David McIlwaine for Queen’s with both starting at inside centre.

It’s been a while since I covered a club game but this nine try fiesta at the Dub on Saturday afternoon certainly whetted my appetite for more. Queen’s University overturned a first half deficit with five second half tries to win this AIL 2 game 44 – 25. Clonakilty were first on the scoreboard early on with
