We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Junior Cup Semi Final between Banbridge Academy U14 and Ballymena Academy U14 sides at Strathearn on Tuesday afternoon. The match was a repeat of this seasons U14 Stevenson Cup Semi Final which Banbridge won 2 – 0 in November.
This game was a tense, titanic struggle from start to finish as the two well drilled sides battled it out for a place in next week’s final.
Banbridge took the lead after 6 minutes with a well taken goal from Lila Nicholson. Ballymena came storming back with four or five penalty corners but they were unable to break the resolute Banbridge defence and the teams went into the second quarter with Banbridge leading 1 – 0.
